MU POSTGRADUATE STUDENT PRESENT A PAPER IN MBAA, USA

A postgraduate student presented a paper titled “ Safety practices of healthcare workers” in the MBAA international Conference held in Chicago, USA , from the period April 18-20, 2018. The student: Ali Al-Tara’ad is an MA researcher in Hospital and Healthcare Management at the College of Business Administration under the supervision of Associate Professor Majed Al-Amri.
The paper indicates that the number of healthcare workers at the world level is approximately 59 million. According to WHO report, healthcare facilities are deemed hazard and the potential of infection among workers is also high. More than 3 million healthcare workers are affected on annual basis, 2.5 % have HIV.
According to the study, there are several reasons that have caused the healthcare workers to get infected including : carelessness of healthcare workers, lack of personal protective equipment, absence of awareness of about precautions, high work load etc.
The study was conducted in one of the hospital in Saudi Arabia which has more than 500 workers, 150 of them have a direct contact with patients. The study was concluded by proposing a number of solutions to the problem.
