MU Rector, Dr. Khalid Al-Muqren extended his thanks to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul Aziz and His Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on the occasion of issuing a new system for universities which is expected to help in achieving a qualitative leap in academia, administration and finance in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
According to MU Rector, this system will enable universities to be independent and to establish their own academic, finance and administrative regulations based on the public policy of the country, particularly the ones related to the implementation of privatization to operate the projects of higher education institutions in the cost effective manner.
This will also ensure that the operational cost of universities is reduced, an act that will prompt universities to find out new sources of funding such as endowment programs and investment companies and reduce their dependence on the state budget.
MU Rector pointed out that the government shall leave no stone unturned to provide the best quality of education to citizens. With that in mind, the new system has also allowed Saudi universities to open branch campuses overseas, and Foreign universities can also now open branch campuses in the Kingdom. With such development, local universities will have to raise their standards to compete with other universities. All these measures are taken in line with the Vision 2030 which aims to make 5 of the Saudi universities among the 200 world’s top universities.
THE NEW SYSTEM OF UNIVERSITEIS IS A QUALITATIVE LEAP IN ACADEMIA, ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE AND WILL ACHIEVE THE KINGDOM’S VISION 2030, SAID MU RECTOR
