MU LAW STUDENTS PARTICIPATES IN SCCA ARABIC MOOT

A group of students from the Department of Law at the College of Business Administration has participated in the Arabic Moot competition organized by the Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration (SCCA) and have also attended the 2nd International Conference organized by the SCCA under the theme: “The Evolution of Arbitration in the Middle East and North Africa: “Realities and Perspectives” in Riyadh.
The competition is the first of its kind in Arabic language aimed at developing the capacity of law students (in all levels) to absorb and understand the latest developments in the field of international commercial law and train them to deal with arbitration as one of the most famous means of settling commercial disputes worldwide.
210 students from Sharia and law department comprising 39 team from 24 universities in the Kingdom will take part in this competition. The teams will compete each other before experts in arbitration. Each teach will write a legal memorandum playing the role of both plaintiff and the defendant in a case sent by the organizing committee for each team. This will help students to bridge the gap between the academic study and practice.
MU team headed by the Dean of the College of Business Administration, Dr. Waleed Al-Bisher included Dr. Abdelrahman Al-Abdelkareem, Head of Law Department, Dr. Abdullah Al-Sa’ab, Assistant Professor of Law, Dr. Yasser Bader, Professor of Law who also trained the team.
The university team comprised: Ibrahim Al-Ghanim, Khalid Al-Meleify, Salman Al-Mutairi, Faris Al-Kharash, Turki Al-Feify.
