Under the auspices of his Excellency the Rector of the University , Dr. Khalid Bin Saad Al Muqrin , and in the presence of the Chairman of Al-Jazirah Newspaper, Sheikh Metleq Al Metleq, and the Vice Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research , Dr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Shayae , and the Editor of Al-Jazirah Newspaper, Mr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al Malek, also in the presence of Vice Rectors of the University, Deans of Colleges and Deanships, Heads of Departments , a number of the university employees , faculty members, and students, a contract was signed for the establishment of Al Jazirah Newspaper Chair for the Studies of New Media , therefore, the university seeks through this Chair to have a leadership and excellence in supporting the specialized knowledge , as well as the modern applied studies , in addition to create scientific, research, consulting, and training environment; modern and developed enough to support the spirit of innovation and creativity among the researchers in particular and the society in general through enriching the theoretical and practical knowledge in the areas of the Chair with high quality and the highest level of efficiency and scientific excellence as well. Also this scientific Chair aims to contribute to lead the Kingdom to achieve a distinctive high position in creativity, innovation, research, and development to support the national economy based on knowledge , and activate the role of the university to contribute to the achievement of sustainable development. On this occasion, the prepared ceremony has begun with a speech delivered by his Excellency the Vice Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research , Dr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Shayae, stating that this day is witnessing an active contribution and a real partnership between the University of Majmaah and Al Jazirah Newspaper through the inaugurating of Al Jazirah Newspaper Chair for the Studies of New Media, which is a partnership that we seek through it to diagnose the actual reality of the new media and the study of its impact on society , and then direct it in a positive way that reflects on the society and the foundations of development in the community. Dr. Al Shayae added that many of the Saudi universities participate in supporting the scientific research process through the creation of research chairs concerned with the public information work , which is positively reflected on the culture of Saudi community. Moreover, the university comes as a sponsor for this Chair because of the culmination of a series of great achievements that have changed with them the visions about the university from an emerging university to a distinguished one with great achievements in the academic field, as well as the research one, due to the efforts of its efficient employees. Hence, in the field of scientific publications a series of scientific journals in the fields of health , administrative and humanity are being issued by the university on a regular basis, for this reason some scientific publishing companies moved to sign agreements with the university to publish its scientific publications within the rules of the global data ,so in the field of scientific publishing the average rate of publishing scientific research of faculty members has reached more than two hundred and twenty in the international and local journals, and in reference to the field of supporting the scientific research , the university has within its campus five centers for scientific research as the following: Research Center of Administrative and Human Sciences - Research Center of Engineering and Applied Sciences - Research Centre of Health Sciences - Research Center of Basic Sciences - the Center of Innovation and Students' Ideas, and all these Centres contribute to provide support and assistance to faculty members and students as well with a budget of five million riyals annually , and the average number of supportive research has reached eighty research annually. In the area of research chairs the university has begun with Al Tuwaijri Chair for Stroke a year ago , and the Chair has issued during this year three specialist books about stroke and four research published in international journals. So what has been mentioned above and other achievements, that cannot be counted for the time being, make us confident that the university has distinguished itself in the field of scientific research , and has become a requirement for many other sectors to utilize of this university in the field of scientific research, followed by a screening of a documentary about the university. Then the Editor of Al-Jazirah Newspaper, Mr. Khalid Al Malik , who said with respect to the subject of research chairs in Al-Jazirah Corporation for Press, Printing and Publishing, they feel proud because Al-Jazirah Newspaper is the only exclusive Saudi newspaper that has all this number of research chairs at our universities , but it is the only newspaper that has research chairs in universities. He stated we feel happy and pride because our unique press organization - with its age of half a century - has got a Chair at the University of Majmaah, this emerging University has realized from the beginning the importance to establish a partnership with the Al-Jazirah Newspaper; to activate its role and its mission in the service of the new media, in cooperation with the Al-Jazirah Newspaper, confirming that the new media is the media of the future, and the media of the future generations as well , which will be - God willing - the Chair's attention, focus, and interest , to enable our young students who are specialized in this area to be familiar and have the ability to provide distinctive media works using technology and revolution of communications in the electronic journalism. He added that Al-Jazirah Chair will enable the University of Majmaah from the dissemination of all news of the Chair's events and activities such as lectures , workshops, seminars , etc., in an expansion and interesting way, as there will be ads in Al-Jazirah Newspaper that cover these activities , whether before, during or after any activity which is under the umbrella of the Chair, within spaces to meet the needs of the Chair and its requirements , and the other activities of the university will be of interest and welcome for publication in Al-Jazirah Newspaper, and thus male and female students will have an opportunity to pursue the news of the university , and be updated of information, decisions, and achievements. Then he concluded his speech hoping that the Chair will be the gate towards more cooperation between the University and Al-Jazirah Newspaper. After that, his Excellency the Rector of the University has delivered a speech stating that the university has taken good steps such as the founding of quality colleges and attract the distinctive competencies of the sons of this country , which made the university – Thank Goodness - receive support from the Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques , and from the Ministry of Higher Education, represented by his Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and His Excellency the deputy , also his Excellency the Rector of the University has welcomed the new partners of the University, saying : Al-Jazirah Newspaper is a unique newspaper that has a wide spread, a brilliant media activity , and an active role in the service of the community in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia , which made the University of Majmaah has no hesitation to sign a contract of partnership with it, and the university does not accept unless it guarantees the existence of tools and the effective methodology in achieving the objectives of the Chair, including strengthening the community's partnership with the university , and the optimal investment of human resources at the university of specialists in all fields of knowledge , and better use of facilities , equipment and other research resources allocated by the university and members of the community as well , in addition to attract the researchers and the creative minds as well as the distinctive competencies locally and internationally. Also the university aims, through this research Chair to make use of the experiences through supporting the programs of scientific communication of faculty members , and the rehabilitation and training programs of various national competencies through scientific research , and to encourage students to invest their distinctive knowledge and conduct studies in-depth research in the areas of the Chair, and the strengthening of the movement of scientific publishing , especially in the specialized journals with a global reputation through authoring and translation of groundbreaking and modern books, and the participation in the national and global research production, and the knowledge of modern technology and the achievement of a supportive base for the nationalism and development programs , as well as providing real opportunities for innovation and excellence in the theoretical and applied scientific research in the areas of the Chair, in addition to serve the Arabic language as a pillar of the pillars of Arab-Islamic identity , and the support of digital content , also the Chair aims to develop new trails in the applied scientific research in the light of new theories and the preparation and implementation of the specialized training programs , and the organization of events and scientific programs such as : conferences , seminars, and panel discussions, also it aims to encourage joint action and integration in the areas of scientific research among the university with its respective units through the team of scientific research with the research institutions outside the university to serve the purposes of the Chair, and connecting the outputs of scientific research in the area of the Chair to the needs of the community by creating an environment based on a partnership between the university and the community. Then the ceremony of signing the contract for the construction of the Chair has begun, followed by honoring the guests of the university , then the attendees went on a tour of some facilities at the university included laboratories of Faculty of Medicine , and the laboratories of the College of Applied Medical Sciences , in addition to a visit to a small gallery showing the indicators of the university's growth , then everyone paid a visit to the Laboratory of Mobile E-Learning , and the Mobile Medical Services Vehicle. At the end of the visit, his Excellency the Rector of the University said his happy farewells to all his guests.
