In line with the university’s efforts to fight the novel corona virus, and given the ongoing need for volunteers by blood banks during this period, the Blood Bank Club at MU, in cooperation with blood banks at hospitals located within the geographical area of the university, launched a new initiative for blood donation under the theme “Donate with no Gathering”.
Upon receiving requests for donation by individuals via the application, the mobile blood unit of the club heads to each person separately for donation. The donation process undergoes five stages and covers five different towns: Majmaaw, Tumayer, Zulfi, Ghat and Hawtat Sudair.
A number of volunteers specialized in health sciences joined the initiative via the Volunteer Work Center at the Social Responsibility Observatory.
Many partners helped the university in the success of this initiative like King Khalid Hospital in Majmaah, Zulfi Public Hospital, Hawtat Sudair Hospital, Charitable Organization in Tumayer, Tumayer Public Hospital, Al-Fayha Sports Club, Sheikh Abdelrahman Abo-Humaid Limited Company.
The donation process is made via the donation application. Any individual of the community who is interested to volunteer for the Bank Blood Club can submit a request which includes his contact number and the number of donators. The location of the donator is detected as the request is submitted.
The number of donators and volunteers during the first stage of the campaign reached 178, 21, respectively.
