The Astronomical Observatory in Hawtet Sudair is preparing to observe Ramadan crescent for the year 1441 AH based on Ul al-Qura calendar.
Based on the calculations made by the Astronomical Observatory on Wednesday April 22nd, 2020 according to Um al-Quran calendar, it seems that the sunset of the moon will be nearly 30 minutes earlier than the sun. On Thursday April 23rd, 2020, the sunset time of the sun will be 6:24 at 284 degrees, and the crescent’s sunset time will be 6:45 at 282 degrees. That is, the crescent would be visible 21 minutes after the sunset at latitude 4,65.
Given the current pandemic and line with the precautionary measures, a medical team from the Medical Services Department and the College of Medicine will participate in the observing process.
