MU SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH SAUDI AUTHORITY FOR INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY TO JOIN TISC

As a step towards achieving its goals, MU has successfully joined the network of Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISC). An agreement was signed earlier by the vice-rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Ahmed al-Rumaih, which was endorsed by MU rector, Dr. Khalid al-Muqren, and the CEO of Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP), making MU among the earliest Saudi universities to join this network.  

The aim of this agreement is to support he principles of national innovation by making technological and scientific experience more accessible; provide search and analysis help in intellectual property database; and raise public awareness with the advantages of intellectual property rights by sharing information about patent.

 The services provided by TISC are custom-tailored and include:  conduct objective search before developing a new technology; follow-up regularly innovation and invention activities in a particular technological sector; determine technological fields of importance potential in future; set a patent plan for a particular technology; identify works not protected by intellectual property; provide users with bibliography information related to intellectual property rights; ensure the validity of intellectual property from a legal stand.  

Dr. al-Rumaih extended his thanks to MU rector for the unconditional support to make MU at the forefront of universities in academia, research, and investment.
