H.E. Rector Dr. Khaled bin Saad Al Moqren inaugurates at nine-thirty am on Sunday, 16/01/1433H the (smoking prevention and drug dangers awareness) exhibition under the slogan “My Life is beautiful without poisons”. The exhibition will take place at the main hall at Majmaah and activities will continue for three days. Many Governmental, private and charity institutions will participate in this exhibition. The ceremony will start with verses of the Holy Quran, welcome speeches, a visual presentation and launch of the Executive Regulations of smoking prevention within the university premises.
Dean of Student Affairs of theUniversity, Dr. Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Homoud, said the above and added that the exhibition is part of a plan of the Deanship activities for the current academic year to achieve one of the main goals of the university to provide various awareness and cultural services to the community. This is being done by follow-up to the Rector, Dr. Khaled Bin Saad Al-Moqren and as implementation of the directives of the Minister of Higher Education Dr. Khalid Bin Mohammed Al-Angari to complete the procedures necessary to form a Saudi university environment smoking-free starting of Saturday, 01/10/1433H and confirmation for His Excellency’s diverse programs and projects in private Saudi universities, awareness of the dangers of smoking on health and society.
Dr. Al Homoud indicated that this exhibition is also part of the Convention, which already do some of the university signed with the Directorate General for Drug Control and as interpretation of this note to the joint ventures contribute to the awareness of these toxins with a focus on the areas served by the university.
Al Homoud Said that the exhibition will witness a number of events and entertainment programs, competitions, lectures and seminars with gifts for visitors. In addition, there will be excursions organized for students from all schools in nearby provinces to visit the exhibition with the participation of Farah band for children during the evening session. Also, there will be draws for prizes in the exhibition. The exhibition will be open for visits daily from 9 am till 1 pm and from 4 pm till 7 pm for three days throughout the exhibition.
Dr. Al Hamoud expressed his thanks for the supporting parties which are: the Saudi (Overseas) Marketing & Trading Company (SOMATCO), Bonayyan Holding Co., Al Jardan International Agencies Co., Medicine Pillars Trading Est., and the Saudi British Center. He also praised the reaction and response of the participants in the exhibition, they are: the General Directorate for Narcotics Prevention, the Charity Society to Combat Smoking (Purity), King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, the National Center for Youth Research, the University Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences, the University Faculty of Medicine, the University College of Dentistry, the Department of Education at Majmaah and the Department of Primary Health Care and Preventive Medicine.
At the conclusion of his remarks, Dr. Homoud gave invitation to all to attend the opening ceremony and follow up the exhibition activities.
