THE COMMITTEE OF RECTOR’S AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING SUB-SITES AND FACULTY MEMBERS AND EMPLOYEES’ WEBSITE CONDUCTS A WORKSHOP

A workshop was conducted by the Committee of Rector’s Award for Outstanding Sub-sites and Faculty Members and Employee’s Website for the supervisors of the sub-sites about the procedures of the award and the assessment criteria of the sub-sites and faculty members and employees’ website. The workshop began with a speech delivered by the head of the committee and the general supervisor of the Rector’s office, Dr. Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al-Rushood where emphasized the great concern of His Excellency the Rector, Dr. Khalid S. Al-Mugren with whatever might be of immense value to the university in all fields, among which is this award and its major role in enhancing the university e-portal. He stated that all the committee members would welcome any suggestion or contribution that is likely to assist the facilitation of work-flow. Thanks and appreciations were extended by Dr. Al-Rushood to all supervisors who attended the workshop.

Following this speech, Mr. Yousef Hamad Al-Rukban, the director of e-portal unit at the deanship of IT reviewed the results of Webometrics Website over the last few years. Mr. Al-Rukban stated that the e-portal of Majmaah University has witnessed an immense development in this field as the number of sub-sites has increased from 32 to be 42 during 1433. Mr. Al-Rukban also made a reference to the number of web pages that have also immensely increased from 154000 to reach around one million page during the same period. These outstanding results, Mr. Al-Rukban add, is attributed to the constant and unlimited support of His Excellency the Rector as well as the exceptional efforts exerted by the supervisors of all departments.

Addressing the audience, the secretary of the committee, Mr. Waleed Al-Oulah reviewed the criteria of assessment for the sub-sites and faculty members and employees’ website with much details followed by a discussion for all the criteria and answering all the inquires. The approved timetable of the award was also reviewed by Mr. Al-Oulah who also mentioned that an awarding ceremony shall be held to award the winning departments and winners of the faculty members and employees’ website. Finally, Mr. Al-Oulah mentioned that a new award was approved by the Rector for the best e-publishing of scientific research and further details related to the criteria of assessment will be defined soon.

It is worth noting that the e-portal unit at IT Deanship has developed a new website for the award which includes further information regarding the timetable and assessment criteria of the award. (raow.mu.edu.sa)
