In a new discovery by Saudi women, the first student, Sarah al-Salboud, from the college of Applied Medical Sciences of Majmaah University, to participate in a research team and discover a cure for healing diabetic foot using the nano-silver technology by attaching stem cells (HMSCS), in view of the fact that slow healing or incomplete healing of wounds is one of the chronic problems diabetic patients suffer from, which stops at the stage of inflammation, which prevents the transition to angiogenesis and tissue restructuring, which may lead to cell death.
The research team had applied the testing upon mice with diabetes to test the success of this compound cure, which is a bandage that shall assist a great deal in the healing of the diabetic foot wound, and is subsequently applicable on humans.
This innovation is the pure result of a year worth of thinking and hard work, with the collaboration of the team of innovation at the college that is headed by Dr Naser Ali al-Jarallah, Dr Mohammad Othman al-Rukban, Dr Muattar Reda Ruzafie and the student Abdul-Aziz al-Thwaifrie.
The team of innovation revealed that there are an influx number of diabetics in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Diabetes foot is the worst problem suffered by diabetics, so we find that the wound stops healing when inflamed, which causes death of cells, followed by Gangrene, ending with the amputation of limb. Therefore, we had worked very hard to eliminate the problem and end the suffering of these patients. So, we discovered this innovative cure by combining nano-silver molecules with stem cells in a form of bandage, which by the will of Allah, help in healing the wounds of the diabetes foot magnificently.
The innovative team aspires to lessen the suffering of the diabese foot patients during the next stage by the will of Allah. As for the patent, the student Abdul-Aziz al-Thowaifrie stated “We have requested to obtain a patent for this innovation from King Abdul-Aziz city of Science and Technology, by the praise of Allah”
