Patronized by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Al Rumaih, and in the presence of the Vice Rector, Dr. Musallam Al-Dosari, College deans and supporting deanships as well as a number of faculty members at the University, the Deanship of Student Affairs held a celebration of the International Day of the Arabic Language on Monday, December 18, 2017, at the University Theater.
The Celebration began with verses from the Holy Quran followed by a speech by the Dean of Student Affairs Dr. Khaled Al-Afaysan speaking about the importance of students taking pride in their identities, their Arabic language and stating that Arabic is the language of the Holy Quran and the language of science beside being one of the oldest languages in the world.
Dr. Al-Ofaysan pointed to the keenness of the Rector to revive such events that strengthen the students’ adherence to their identities and pride in their native language.
Dr. Al-Ofaysan also thanked the Department of Arabic Language at the College of Education for their cooperation with the Deanship in holding that event. He also expressed appreciation to the College of Education in Zulfi for their own celebration of the anniversary.
Later, a symposium entitled “Arabic and Modern Technology”- moderated by Dr. Tannaf Al-Otaibi, took place. Dr. Samir Al-Azhar Jawadi participated with a paper entitled: “Arabization of Modern Technologies between Common Use and Oblivion”. Furthermore, Dr. Menia Ali Al-Hamami presented her paper entitled “Adaptation of Computer Technology for Processing the Arabic Language”.
The students participating in the Theater Club at the University also presented a play entitled: “Great Literature Periods”.
At the end of the celebration, the Vice Rector, Dr. Musallam Al - Dosari awarded the seminar participants and the students of the Theater Club.
