In a ceremony held in the Honorary Hall, Dr. Khalid Al-Mugren, MU Rector, inaugurated the Club of Blood Bank which was set up jointly with King Khalid Hospital in Majmaah.
The ceremony began with a speech delivered by Mr. Turki Al-Humaidani, who expressed his appreciations to the Deanship of IT and Department of Services for their unfailing contributions to support the Club. Following the speech, a presentation was given about the project which is made up of three main parts: mobile application, database and the bus of blood bank. Addressing the audience, MU rector, Dr. Al-Mugren, expressed his gratitude with this indispensable service that is linked to human safety. The extensive efforts exerted by those who carried out this project throughout the various stages of the project have payed dividends, added Dr. Al-Mugren, who, at the same time, stressed the necessity of keeping this project active in community. The Rector then launched the database of the project, the twitter account and the bus of blood bank and was briefed about the function of all sections. Given the fact that the task of searching for blood donors has become daunting, the project, which was originally established as a joint effort by Social Responsibility Observatory and King Khalid Hospital, aims to alter the perspective of community towards blood donation and to increase their awareness with this regard. As a primary goal in every academic semester, the club has conducted around 36 campaigns for blood donation to reach 3000 units.
