Child Marriage: Towards Defining Age for Marriage

In line with its cooperation with the Department of Islamic Studies, the Training Unit conducted a training course entitled “Child Marriage: Towards Defining Age for Marriage”.
Goals of the course:
- Introduce students to the issue of child marriage, particularly those before the age 18.
Description of the course:
- The concept of child marriage and the sayings of Islamic scholars
- The idea of fathers allowing their children to get married
- The permissibility of specifying age for marriage
The course addressed the stance of Islam with regard to child marriage and the necessity of educating guardians about this matter. The perspectives and arguments of Islamic scholars on child were also discussed in the course along with the pros and cons.
