A Lecture Titled" The Family role for A child with Disability"

Objectives: 1- Raising the awareness of the society towards disability. 2- Introducing the family role and its influence on the child with disability. 3- Offering psychological and social support to the family of the child with disability. 4- Highlight the importance of advisory to integrate the child with disability into society. Topics: An introduction. The definition of family. The definition of disability. The prevalence of people with disabilities. Types of disabilities. The family's reaction to a child born with disability. The family's early stages of finding out about a disability. The role of the mother and family for the child with disability. Offering psychological and social support. The importance of guidance for the child with disability and his family. The Integration of a child with disability into school and society. The lecture entitled "The Family Role for a Child with Disability" was held on Sunday, 02\03\1437 H at the campus Coliseum. The lecture focused on the important role of family in developing the children's different potentialities, accepting the children with love and affection, upbringing and guiding the children. The lecture also discussed the negative impact of a child born with disability on the family, which may lead in some cases to divorce. Therefore, the lecture was meant to increase the parents' awareness of types and severity of disabilities, rehabilitation of child with disability and asking for guidance to integrate the child into family and society.
