The Intellectual Awareness Unit at female campus conducted on Wednesday a lecture entitled “Impact of Media on Student’s Mind”. Presented by Dr. Khalid Al-Serheed, Head of Department of Islamic Studies, the course aimed to educate students about media and its different types; traditional vs new media along with the advantages and disadvantages of media from an Islamic perspective. Dr. Al-Serheed began the lecture by defining the media and shed a light on its history, with a particular focus on the era of the Prophet Muhammed – peace be upon on him -. The various media channels used by the Prophet to spreading Islam were mentioned followed by drawing a distinction between the traditional and new media. Dr. Al-Serheed concluded the lecture by a number of advice of how students can avail themselves of media in a positive manner.
