Orientation Meeting for New Students

In the presence of the dean, vice-deans and faculty members, the Vice-Dean’s Office for Student Affairs conducted on Sunday an orientation meeting for new students during in the second semester of 1439/1440 academic year. The Vice-Dean for Student Affairs, Dr. Tariq Al-Omar, launched the meeting with a talk followed by a speech delivered by the Dean Dr. Tariq Al-Bahlal, who explained the usual relation between students on one hand, and faculty members, head of departments, academic advisor and vice-deans, on the other hand. A distinction was made to introduce students to the difference between school and university with particular focus on the wide-range of services provided to them during their academic life. The dean also reminded students that scoring a high GPA at the early times would determine the students’ success. Dr. Fahad Al-Sherari, Vice-Dean for Educational Affairs, briefed students about the e-portal including the different services offered to students. He encouraged students to attended courses and workshops and follow-up with their academic advisers with regard to their studying plan as well as any potential problems that might be encountered in future. The Vice-Dean for Quality and Development, Dr. Sa’ad Al-Othaimeen, introduced students to the goals of Quality and Development Vice-Dean’s Office that needs to achieved to upgrade the quality of educational process and to achieve the academic accreditation. Dr. Hajed Al-Otaibi, Vice-Dean for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, highlighted the support students will receive from the Innovation and Invention Unit as well as the fund for research. General pieces of advice were given by the Head of Islamic Department, Dr. Khalid Al-Sarheed, who warned students to overlook the destructive thinking that target students. The Vice-Dean for Student Affairs, then, briefed students about the facilities such as sport hall and tents as well as the different contests organized by both the university and the Vice-Dean’s Office. Dr. Mohammed Medhat, Supervisor of e-learning, suggested a number of useful instructions about e-learning and reminded students to always check the exam dates. The supervisor of Student Support Unit, Dr. Aiman Jaradat, provided tips related to GPA and aptitude test, and advised students to improve their skills in English language, math and computer. to emphasize the importance of attending the courses held at the college, Dr. Jamal Halawa, supervisor of Training Unit, reminded students that these courses will be included in their record.
