As part of the Book Week’s events, organized by the Deanship of Library Affairs, the Student Activities Unit organized in coordination with a number of students from different academic departments in the College a visit to the University Central Library at the main campus in Majmaah. The visit took place on Wednesday, 01/01/1437 AH and was coordinated by Dr. Hussein Batayneh, Dr. Ahmed Abdel Sattar and Dr. Munir Abu Shawar . At first, the library administration welcomed the students who had then an idea on the contents of the library, which includes valuable books, recordings, newspaper records, magazines and periodicals. After that, an explanation was made on how to search for books via computers that enable visitors to electronically look for books in a fast and simple manner. The library contains also many scanners that enable the transfer of content from printed books to electronic (pdf) files. Next, students learnt about the electronic loaning system, which enables them to borrow books through a special device that does not require the presence of an employee. In addition to this, the visit had many objectives such as: 1 - Encouraging self-education for both adults and young and enabling scholars and researchers to access books and references relevant to their studies and research topics. 2 - providing general information to students and educate them about different cultures and diverse experiences, and help them continue building their knowledge in various fields, and raise their desire for reading. 3 – helping to bring up a generation of good citizens who are capable of serving themselves and their community, and providing them with the necessary material for developing their different artistic and technical skills, which in turn helps them to improve their careers and raise their level of performance. At the end of the visit, students expressed their admiration with the contents of the library, the ease of access to books and the simplicity of the loaning system.
