Training course entitled “Translating Idioms and Proverbs"

The Department of English held a training course entitled "Translation of idioms and proverbs" on Tuesday, 18/6/1439 delivered by Dr. Jilani Khalil Othman Al-Faki.
The session started with an introduction to the idioms, proverbs and the similarity and contrast of these terms from one language to another.
Then he mentioned the various definitions of idioms and proverbs in English.
Several strategies translating these expressions from English into Arabic were explained followed by highlighting the role of culture in making these idioms often used everyday.
Finally, students thanked the presenter and expressed their appreciation for the course.
