The Department of English at the College of Science and Humanities held a welcoming reception for its freshmen in a decorated hall at the Department, a regular event that takes place each year as one of the student activities at the College. Some faculty members and students took part in the reception, which started with poems welcoming the new students. In her welcoming speech, Dr. Ihsan Abdul-Qader urged the freshmen to study hard in order to achieve high results. Then PowerPoint slides including tips and pictures were shown. A few faculty members spoke about student rights and responsibilities at the College, introducing the new class to the Department rules and regulations. Ms. Reem Alrashidi gave a lecture the following day about academic counseling on campus and its significance. She also encouraged students to communicate with their respective advisors for their own academic development.
