Workshop: Learning Outcomes and Measurement

The Vice Deanship for Academic Affairs organized a workshop on the subject of “Learning Outcomes and Measurements” on Thursday 6/3/1437 H. The workshop was presented by Dr. Mohamed Salah Alaaboody, the dean of the College of Sciences in Zulfi and his associate team. This was also in the presence of the Dean of the college, the college vice-dean for academic affairs, and faculty members. The workshop dealt with the following topics: 1. Development constructed upon learning outcomes 2. Applicability of learning outcomes 3. Assurance of the consistency of learning outcomes 4. Planning to design learning outcomes. The workshop has tried to define learning outcomes and discuss their importance – outcome-based teaching – areas of learning outcomes – determining the learning outcomes of a program – program leaflet – method for designing learning outcomes – direct and indirect evaluation tools – learning outcomes and program performance indicators. The workshop also discussed how to develop students’ oral communication skills, using computer, and academic research and more particularly for students who are about to graduate, teaching methods, evaluation methods to evaluate target learning outcomes, and how to utilize the evaluation results in improvement plans and the executive plan to use analysis syntheses in development. It has also dealt with plans for learning outcomes evaluation, aspects of the learning outcomes evaluation plan and how they relate to Quality, and the experience that the College of Sciences in Zulfi has especially with the learning outcomes evaluation and assessment system.
