The Community Service and Continuing Education Unit at female campus organized in cooperation with doctors from the Primary Health Care Center in Al-Nahda in Hawtat Sudair a community initiative entitled “Food Allergy in Children” on Monday.
A lecture was presented by Dr. Duaa Rajab, Dr. Al-Jawhara Al-Absi, and the nursing specialist Seiqah Al-Rashidi, and addressed the following topics:
1. Certain food allergens (beware of them in your food).
2. The most important and popular allergy symptoms (as they differ from person to person).
3. The difference between lactose intolerance and a milk and food allergy.
4. Wheat allergy and its symptoms.
5. Peanut allergy and its symptoms.
6. Treating a food allergy by one of the methods (antihistamines or an emergency epinephrine injection)
7. Symptoms of food allergy in infants and methods of prevention and treatment.
The initiative aimed to sensitize the local community and faculty members to children's allergies, their prevalence and danger.
