HE The Rector Inaugurates the Training and e-Learning Community Itinerant Project

In an honoured presence of the Rector Dr. Khalid bin Saad Al-Mugren the Itinerant Training and E-learning Community project was inaugurated in the university campus. The inauguration ceremony began with a speech by HE the Vice Rector and the Dean of e-learning and distance learning Dr. Musallam bin Mohammed Al-Dosari, during which he talked about the concept of community training and e-learning, and the importance of this project and its idea and objectives, which are summarised in the provision of community service through spreading the culture of e-learning, and increasing the effectiveness of communication between the university and the community, and to achieve the dimensions of the strategic plan of the university in the light of its third function  represented in community service, and raising the level of cultural and scientific level of the target group, and providing a learning environment that is suitable for the development of students' thinking skills through inquiry and exploration, as well as meeting the needs of students of ordinary and special needs types from the learning resources that are appropriate to their characteristics, and encouraging learners to participate actively in teaching and learning processes, and preparing learners to interact positively with the variables of technology and its progressive educational applications, and providing the appropriate training environment, and the attractive environment for members of the target group to increase the demand for distance education programs in Saudi universities. Also, HE the Vice Rector and the Dean of e-learning and distance learning commended on the unlimited support and encouragement by the Rector since the idea of ​​this initiative originated until its final steps implemented, which is considered as a partnership between the Deanships of e-learning and distance learning and Community Service and Continuos  Education. After that, the Rector listened to the explanation of the project implementation stages, by Dr. Adel Maghdawi, Mr. Abdul Ilah Al-Mutairi and Dr. Omar Okasha. The implementation stage goes through three phases, the first through the formation of a committee for the project that sets several meetings periodically through which an executive plan is made and an appropriate name for the project is chosen, and presentations of companies are examined to choose the best. This Committee had a meeting with a counsellor from the Ministry of Communications to discuss and study matters related. Also, the Committee has looked at other analogous projects in order to find out the errors and observations to be avoided. The Committee has to listen to the presentation, and viewed time plan and work requirements. In the second phase the bus was bought and examined, and corresponded with the required specifications and requirements were gathered. Also, adjustments that help to implement them in the bus were made. In the final stage the bus was  equipped with computers, smart boards, cameras, air conditioners, carpets and decorations. Then, the Rector was briefed on its inside and outside facilities, in addition to the visual presentation of the project presented by the Dean of Community Service and Continuos Education Dr. Omar Bin Mosaad Al-sheriofi. Then it was spoken with HE the Rector about this initiative and how it is considered as a pioneer project amongst the Saudi universities, and he urged the necessity to activate it in a way that achieves its objectives fully and  follow-up its results constantly. Also, HE stressed on the search for those who need this project other than the university students who have their academic potentials and look for who need this project from individuals and entities, and introduce it to them to take advantage of it. Also, HE mentioned that of the most important elements of the completion of such achievement is to ensure quality to take advantage of the potential of such project and take into account the priorities. He also emphasised on the need to focus on the quality of the programs offered through this project. Finally, the Rector thanked all those involved in this specific and important project, which is a proudness for the University where it was at the hands of the Saudi youth.
