Under the patronage of HE Rector Dr. Khalid bin Saad Al-Muqrin; the Deanship of e-learning and distance learning Inaugurated the project of e-learning environment (D2L) and e-courses development project on Wednesday 09/25/2013, in the conference room at the Rector's office, in the presence of the deanship employees, led by the Dean Dr. Musallam bin Mohammed Al-Dosari and the vice Dean for Academic Affairs Dr. Khalid bin Nashi Al-mudairbi and the Deanship advisors Dr. Hossam El Din Fahim, Dr. Hisham Al-Saqeer, Dr. Ali Al-Harbi and Dr. Omar Al-Saeedi . Also, the Dean of Admission and Registration Dr. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Romaih, and the Dean of Information Technology Dr. Omar Al-Mutaihi, and a delegation of the Arabian Advanced Systems (Naseeg) the company executing the project for e-learning environment system Desire2Learn led by Abdul Jabbar al-Abdul Jabbar, the Executive Chairman of the company.At the beginning of the event the Dean of e-learning Dr. Musallam Al-Dosari talked about both projects, explaining their significance for the educational process at the university, through providing high quality academic service, and their contribution to the development of human capacity in the university, and raising the efficiency of the performance of institutional support for e-transformation, and strengthening the infrastructure for the Deanship of e-learning by advanced international systems of e-learning. Also the Rector pointed to the importance of the integration that has been made in the accomplishment of the e-learning system environment D2L project precisely between the executing company and the Deanship of Admission and Registration and the Deanship of Information Technology in harmony and full understanding that led to fast accomplishment and problems avoidance.Also, Mohamed Hossam El Din the executing company engineer talked about the project work plan through:
- Forming project management teams for agreement on work mechanism and implementation requirements.
- Cooperation with the Deanship of Information Technology for infrastructure locations.
- Cooperation with the Deanship of Admission in integration with the student information system.
- Providing and installing systems that serve the university.
- Qualification of staff in Deanship manage e-systems and provide technical support and employ specialized team to do so.
- Providing training plans for faculty members at the university and set special courses for the used systems.
- Providing technical support services and support to the university.
He explained that this project is includes in the six systems which are: system of construction and management of educational content, system of educational modules repository, system of virtual classrooms, system of students performance analysis, mobile learning system and system of electronic tests. Then, Dr.Omar Al-Saeedi talked about the project of e-courses development, and pointed out that the Deanship has adopted a plan to develop university courses electronically according to the sequential system that takes into account the needs and the quality and effectiveness of the application and the stability of the study plans. Therefore, modules of Computer and Information College were targeted in the first stage and completed to produce a sample of two modules, so as to ensure the achievement of the 10th Level in the levels of e-courses development, this stage entails other stages in order to reach the development of 100 courses of the university at the end of the next academic year, also taking into account the plan to develop courses electronically to be in the future localization of production processes in order to achieve the establishment of e-courses production centre at the university.Then, Dr. Hossam El Din Fahim talked about the efforts of the Deanship in the previous period to recruit the best e-systems and achieve operational plans in the development of courses, and that the performance index refers to what is planned for.At the end of the meeting, HE Rector Dr. Khalid bin Saad Al-Muqrin talked about the work carried out by the Deanship during the past period and the pursuit of excellence in its plans and projects, and that the annual report issued by the Deanship for the year 1433/1434 indicates what we have been achieved by the University in the field of e-learning development. Also, he pointed out that the principle adopted by the university with the private sector, is the principle of full partnership, cooperation, and transparency comprehension in reality, project implementation, periodic reports and problems during the implementation process, and that the work done during the last period, shows the remarkable level of integration and serious follow-up of both parties, which it is hoped in each project at the university. Then, the Rector inaugurated the e-learning environment system project D2L and the project of e-courses development. At the end photos were taken for the employees of the university and the Deanship and those involved in the implementation of projects.
