The Deanship of E-learning and Distance Learning at MU has accepted the University of Bahrain's invitation to participate in the fifth international e-learning conference and exhibition. The conference, which was sponsored by the Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Mubarak Al-Khalifa, was attended by the Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, Abdullatif Al-Zayani, the Bahraini Minister of Education , Dr. Majid Bin Ali Al-Nuwaimi, the Head of the IEEE Institute, the Rector of Bahrain University, Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Janahi, and a number of officials and representatives of the legislative authority in Bahrain as well as more than 400 researchers including experts and academics in the field of e-learning from more than 40 countries. During the event, Shaikh Mohammed Bin Mubarak Al-Khalifa, the Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain, honored the University for its support and participation in the conference, which reflects the University's leadership attention to e-learning represented by the Rector, Dr. Khaled Bin Saad Al-Muqrin. Furthermore, the Vice-Dean for Academic Affairs at the Deanship, Dr. Khalid Bin Nashi Al-Mudaybri, received an honorary shield from Sheikh Al-Khalifa, the Bahrain conference sponsor. On this occasion, the University Vice-Rector and Supervisor of the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Learning, Dr. Musalam Bin Mohammed Al-Dosari, conveyed that the University's participation in this conference is but one of its contributions towards the general social responsibility, which allows beneficiaries to exchange their experiences in the field of e-learning, and thus benefiting the community. The Vice-Rector also noted that, holding theses conferences comes at the recommendations of the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which result from the selection of the General-Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council. Moreover, this conference is held at the E-Learning Centre in the University of Bahrain every two years in the presence of specialists and spokesmen in the field of e-learning, added Dr. Al-Dosari. This conference is accompanied by an e-learning exhibition which includes various workshops, as well as honoring ceremonies for the winners of the General-Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council awards for excellence in e-courses design and development. The Vice-Rector and Supervisor of the Deanship of E-Learning, Dr. Musalam Bin Mohammed Al-Dossari, concluded his statement by expressing his sincere thanks and appreciation to the Rector, Dr. Khaled Bin Saad Al-Muqrin for his constant support for the Deanship.
