Under the patronage of the Minister of Education, Mr. Yousef Al-Benyan, MU hosted the finals of the Saudi Federation for University Sports Basketball Championship for the 14th season. The Championship was held by the Deanship of Student Affairs under the guidance of MU rector, Prof. Saleh Al-Mezal, and the follow-up of the vice-rector for educational affairs, Prof. Muhammad Al-Aboudi, during the period from 24-27, April, 2024. Four universities were in the finals and they are: King Abdulaziz University, Taibah University, King Faisal University, and Imam Abdul Rahman bin Faisal University.
The first match of the semi-final round was held between Taibah University and King Faisal University and ended with the victory of Taibah University, qualifying it to the final match. In the second match of the semi-final round, King Abdulaziz University team won against Imam Abdul Rahman bin Faisal University team to be the second team in the final match. The third-place match was held between King Faisal University and Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University which ended with the triumph of Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University.
In the final match, the University of Taibah achieved the championship title against King Abdulaziz University. The tournament referees - accredited by the Saudi Basketball Federation - were honored along with the university for hosting the championship and the winning teams. Imam Abdul Rahman bin Faisal won the third place cup, bronze medals, and an amount of SR 20,000, while King Abdulaziz University won the second place cup, silver medals, and an amount of SR 30,000 , and Taibah University won the first place cup, gold medals, and an amount of SR 50,000.
A reception and honoring ceremony was held for the participating universities, members of the Saudi Federation for University Sports, tournament referees, and partners, reported by the Head of the Sports and Scouting Activities Department and Chairman of the Championship Organizing Committee, Mr. Nasser Al-Hanno, who extended his thanks and appreciation to the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Saleh Al-Rashidi, and the Vice Dean for Student Activities, Dr. Khaled Al-Salem, for their follow-up and support.
