The e-Learning and Distance Education Deanship (EDED) at MU has won the 23rd Middle East Smart Government and Smart Cities Excellence Awards in UAE. Prof. Musallam Al-Dosari, Vice-Rector and Supervisor of EDED, said that the university has participated with the ‘smart e-learning exams booking and educational labs’ in the category of ‘smart learning systems excellence’. Dr. Khalid Al-Mudaibri, vice-dean of EDED has represented the university in receiving the award in the 24th GCC Smart Government and Smart Cities Conference. Leaders and experts of government institutions, international organizations and business & IT sectors take part in the award which is held annually for the best practices of smart institutional transformation. MU rector, Dr. Khalid Al-Mugren welcomed in his office the team that has participated in the award headed by Prof. Al-Dosari, who handed the winning shield to the Rector. Dr. Al-Mudabiri has provided a detailed explanation to the Rector about the award and its significance in the presence of Dean of IT , Dr. Mohammed Al-Waneen, the group of programmers who have developed the system: Mr. Khalid and Abdulrahman Al-Tariqi from IT Deanship. MU rector said what should be celebrated is the fact these systems were all developed by the university staff, which is an evidence that the university is capable of making headlines without the need to contract with out-source companies. The Rector awarded those who are behind this achievement.
