On a historic day of special significance, a day of joy at and pride in the achievements of our country since the time of King Abdul-Aziz (May Allah Rest his Soul in peace), Majmaah University held a special celebration commemorating the 87th National Day anniversary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
His Excellency the Governor of Majmaah Governorate Prince Abdurrahman Al-Saud attended the event as well as the regions heads, a number of directors of public institutions, faculty and staff members at the University and people of the city.
With the vice-rectors and deans, Dr. Khalid Al-Muqrin- the University Rector- received the Prince who was then escorted to the front seat. The celebration began with the royal anthem of the country followed by a Quranic recitation.
An educational documentary entitled “temptation” was then showed. The film tells highlights the serious risk of deviating from true religion and its negative impact on the unity of society.
After the documentaries, Majmaah University Rector gave a speech in which he welcomed the Prince, thanking him for honoring the university by attending such a remarkable event and all the attendees who gave part of their valuable time to commemorate such a memorable occasion.
Dr. Al-Muqrin said “I deeply appreciate the everlasting care and ongoing support by King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz and his crown prince, Prince Muhammad Bin Nayef and the deputy-crown prince, Prince Muhammad bin Salman as well as the Saudi government for education in the country in general and the University of Majmaah in particular, which has influenced education positively and contributed to the development of our communities”.
“Therefore, in order to appreciate such generosity and good-heartedness, we should be good citizens, protecting the country as a whole from extremism or tribal prejudices and adhering to unity which in turns brings about development and modernity.” He continued.
Dr. Al-Muqrin then warned students, “please my sons and daughters, be aware of extremist ideas, radical and evil ideologies that have plunged countries around us into chaos and insecurity. Those ideologies are definitely alien to Islam, which stresses peace and prosperity.”
The rector said in his speech that one of the main objectives of the university is to provide various services to the community, primary among which is raising awareness in different fields and improving the education process together with spreading good culture, ideas and model behavior as well as warning the next generation of extremist ideology that could destroy them along with their country.
In its attempts to propagate sound and moderate ideology, the University has hosted dignitaries and celebrities to talk about national unity and highlight the importance of belonging.
“The role of the university is not only linked to an occasion or a place. Rather, we strive in our departments, lectures, programs and activities to promote these values by highlighting the achievements of the country and the support of the citizens”, Dr. Muqrin added.
Concluding his speech, Dr. Al-Muqrin prayed the Almighty to protect the country and bless it with prosperity, peace and security as well as help the people to be supportive and obedient to their leadership in their contribution to peace and security.
Then the rector thanked the attendees and the administrators of the event.
A presentation was then showed entitled “University Achievements” presenting the successes and accomplishments of the University in various fields including some alumnus who joined public service to participate in the building of the country.
At the end of the celebration, Prince Abdurrahman Al-Saud met journalists in a press conference.
The Prince began by appreciating the University administration for holding the event, celebrating such memorable anniversary. Then he said that “We’re commemorating the 87h anniversary of the establishment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by the late King Abdul-Aziz- May the Almighty Bless his Soul. Our celebration also includes the subsequent inspiring and visionary leaders of the country who exerted considerable efforts in the development and prosperity of the country over the years, those who brought peace and prosperity to such a great nation.”
“Majmaah University’s celebration of the anniversary is evidence of the development in the country made possible by the unpresented support of the wise and visionary leadership of the country for the educational sector represented in such an institution with big buildings of various colleges, excellent administration, qualified cadres and highly promising students looking for a future contribution to the prosperity and welfare of our beloved country in all sectors.” The prince added.
“Despite the economic conditions and political events, the country is still on the path of development and affluence thanks to Allah, the Almighty and the strong leadership of King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz, Crown Prince, Prince Muhammad bin Nayef, Deputy-Crown Prince, Prince Muhammad bin Salman, safely and by the hands of the Saudi citizens. This leadership deserves gratitude and appreciation from us all.” Prince Abdurrahman continued.
The Prince then concluded his speech by congratulating King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz, Crown Prince, Prince Muhammad bin Nayef, Deputy-Crown Prince, Prince Muhammad bin Salman as well as the Saudi citizens on behalf of the people of Majmaah on the anniversary of the National Day, wishing a better future and welfare to such blessed country.
Celebration of the National Day anniversary is an annual event organized by Majmaah University by showing documentaries of achievements in addition to distributing brochures and prizes.
