The 6th Kuwait Waste Management Conference & Exhibition
The Middle East's longest running waste management event Efficient management of solid waste is a huge global challenge. In the GCC region (Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE and Oman), where most countries have highest per capita waste generation across the world, the scale of the challenge faced by civic authorities is even greater. Rapid industrial growth especially in the energy industry, construction boom, increasing population and rapid urbanization have all contributed to this escalating waste problem. Preliminary estimates put the total volume of solid waste generated in the GCC region at around 120 million tons per year. This event aims to present innovative and sustainable solutions for all types of municipal, industrial and medical wastes.
Kuwait Waste Management Conference & Exhibition is the premier event for the recycling and waste management industry in the GCC region. It will present a platform to explore latest technologies & products and find best practices to successfully manage waste in a cost effective and environmental friendly manner. It will assemble leading industry players, waste management solution providers and consultants to address and discuss challenges and strategies for waste minimization, collection, treatment, disposal and recycling.
Kuwait Waste Management Conference & Exhibition will provide a distinctive opportunity to all the national and international exhibitors to network and put on display the most recent equipments, services, solutions and technologies in the waste and recycling industry on a single platform.
Kuwait Waste Management Conference & Exhibition is a must attend event for waste management companies, materials recycling facilities and local authorities as well as personnel responsible for their organization’s recycling and waste management.

Scientific Trip to Sudair Industrial City
On Monday, we set off on a field trip to the industrial city of Sudair, accompanied with Dr. Amjad Khabaz, Dr. Yasser, Dr. Omar Awad and Dr. Muzaffar. The journey from the university was launched at 8:45 and then we arrived the industrial Sadir city at 9:25.
Then we met engineers who work in the administration and surprised by some engineers graduated from our university they working in the industrial city it was a nice coincidence, then we met engineer \ Walid AL-Buhairi who giving us general information about the Sadir Industrial City. We identified the industrial city, which is estimated at an area (265 m2), which is the largest industrial city in Saudi Arabia.
Then we talked about the factories, 10 factories are operational and they are in the process of processing 40 factories, area of each factory is estimated at (1500 m2). The cost of the projects in the city is estimated at (1.087 billion Saudi Riyals).
Then we took a tour of a factory processed and they told us about the importance of safety equipment for anyone working in these factories. And we saw Columns made of the material (steel), then we saw the slab made of the subjects of the (steel & concrete) and we saw basic beam and called (Rafter Beam). Then we talk about the reason for the high columns outside the factory because of the use (Horizontal connection).
Engineers and doctors telling us that carried on a system (Bracing System) which is used in wind resistance. We have noted the presence of holes in the ceilings, so take advantage of sunlight during the day light and that called green energy.
During on the bus, Dr. Amjad told us existence slope in the existing roads in the city for rainwater harvesting on the edges of roads, in order to drain rain water quite easily. Then we go out of town to see how the water out through the drainage network, and we noticed there’s roofs of the stone out of each channel in order to collision outside the water from the sewage system in this surface so as to relieve the water that are too high speed before goes of the drainage network speed.
Then we stopped at one of the bridges and we talked about how important section which is T-shaped in bridges and learned about the importance of using the system (Influence System) and we talked about dynamics loads on the bridge.
Then we visited the desalination station of underground water and learned about, its produces daily 6,000 m3, and we saw a cooling tower which cools the groundwater, which is the temperature is around 57 to reach the temperature below 30, and we noticed a large water tank with a capacity of 5500 m3.
Then we visited the laboratory in the city, and we have some tests on some of the water samples in order to measure the conductivity of water, the supervisors of these laboratories daily tests on water samples. Then we have to go to the fresh concrete manufacturing machine (Concrete mix center machine) and we saw the difference in the sizes stones( aggregate ) used in the required proportion of water in the mixtures, then we went to the control room and we see electronic screen through which choice the size and quantity of aggregate and water used in the concrete mix, are treated the American units (the American system of units), and after that, the supervisors and the doctors tell us all we can instead of water and use some chemical mixtures in order to enhance the operational ( workability ) capacity of the mixture, or to raise the strength of concrete mix. After that we did a test a fresh mix concrete and noticed when the water / cement w/c is high strength mixture will decrease any that whenever we have to reduce the w 3 of the mixture /c greater the strength of the concrete mix, and that a test use of 50 m3 with 6-cylinders.
In the end, the visit was very useful for us and we thank the doctors and supervisors who accompanied us and thanks for their effort and answer all our questions.
