Advisory Board of the Electrical Engineering Department held its third meeting in Saturday 28\5\2016 under the chairmanship of Dr. Abdullah Muhaisin and the membership of:

Dr. Waleed Alrasheed, Dr. Abdel-Rahman Al-Qawasmi, Eng. Raed Alshaaalan and Eng. Khaled Hurbi and Eng Khalid Alkhedhairi. The Advisory board discussed two main topics: The Design aspects in the senior designs and the EE curriculum

Designing Effective Scientific Presentations Workshop

The research committee has presented two workshops: the first one is about Designing effective scientific presentations and the second on Communication skills during a scientific presentations. Dr. Youcef talked on the different audience learners categories: the readers, the listeners and the viewers.  Then he presented the different tips that allow the improvement of the layout of a scientific presentation. Also he presented the main tips to give a powerful talking language. He makes the department members to participate a practice activity in order to improve their skills.  For the second workshop he gave the different tips that allow the improvement of the communications skills and the body language.

 

Workshop on discussion of exam writing and analysis guidelines

The electrical engineering department organizes a workshop for the discussion of exam writing and analysis guidelines.  The Assessment and Evaluation Committee prepared a Exam witting guidelines, Exam Self-Evaluation Template, Exam Results Analysis-Template and Exam Review Template in order to improve the quality of assessments in the department. After a brief introduction by the head of the department, Dr. Abdulla Almuhaisen, Dr. Mohamed Ouda, the coordinator of the Assessment and Evaluation Committee presented the proposed guidelines.  The faculty members discussed and ratify the guidelines and the templates

.

 

Assessment and Evaluation of SLO using Software Programs

The EE department organized a workshop “Assessment and Evaluation of SLO”. In the beginning, the HOD Dr. Abdullah Almuhaisen mentioned that such workshops are important for quality work and all faculty members should have a sufficient knowledge about methods of assessment and evaluation of Students Learning Outcomes (SLO) theoretically and practically.  Dr. Abdel-Rahman Al-Qawasmi –The coordinator of Academic and Accreditation Unit in the engineering College- explained the principle of work of the software program and the questions from the faculty members are discussed to use the program in an efficient way through determining the benchmark, comparing results of evaluation and writing recommendations to take actions for improving and developing

Discussion and Proposal for The Development of EE LAB’S

The Co-coordinator of LDC Dr. Mohamed Ouda, has presented about the result analysis of the students, and discussed about how to improve the quality of the students from their basic standards to higher level.The Basic Circuits Subcommittee Organizer Dr. Fathi has presented about the importance of Electric Circuits Lab and the list of equipment’s needed to run the lab smoothly.Dr. Yazeed discussed about the importance of workshop where students can do their senior design projects.

 

LAB VISIT FROM HOD AND FACULTY MEMBERS OF EE DEPT. ON 2-11-2015 FROM 12:15PM TO 1:00PM

The LDC has invited the HOD and all the faculty members of EE Department to survey of all Labs on 2-11-2015.The Labs was kept neat and clean, the instructor of the Labs has explained about the procedure, and requirement in their labs. The HOD has suggested to the instructors to keep their labs neat and under working condition. If they face any problem in the labs for the equipment’s or any other problems then they have to contact LDC to solve the issue.

Discussion and Proposal for The Development of EE LAB’S

The coordinator of the Lab and Development Committee (LDC ) Dr. Mohamed Ouda, has presented about the importance of Labs in EE department  and also presented a proposal to establish new labs and to upgrade the existing one (Microwave lab and Antenna Lab). The Labs should be used for Educational, Development and Research .

The Power Subcommittee Organizer Dr. Bilal has discussed about the importance of High Voltage Lab and proposed to establish HV lab with Protection methods.

Dr. Ahmed Galal discussed about the recent trends on Smart grid and proposed to establish a lab to know the basics of Smart grid.

The Communication Subcommittee Organizer Dr. AbdelRahman Alqawasmi discussed about the importance of Senior Design, and proposed for Digital Lab, Optical Communication Lab, and Fiber optic communication

 

Teaching strategies and their effects on the performances of graduates

On tuesday  October 27, 2015, between 1and 2 pm, in the seminar room, a workshop entitled “Teaching strategies and their effects on the performances of graduates " is held in the Department of Electrical Engineering. In this workshop, Dr. El Manaa Barhoumi, Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Teaching Quality Assurance Committee explained the effective teaching methods.  After discussion of the benefits of the active teaching method, Dr El Manaa encouraged colleagues to use correctly active method based on the criteria  of good  teaching. The workshop was attended by all faculty members

 

 

Innovation Groups forming Seminar

"Department of Electrical Engineering as part of forming Innovation Groups comprising of the Faculty members and students organized an inaugural meeting with the students at the Engineering Club of the College on 20-10-2015. Head of the Department, Dr.Abdullah Almuhaisen and the  Department Co-Ordinator of the Undergraduate Research and Assistance committee, Dr.Praveen R.P. informed the students about the idea behind the formation of the Innovation Group and encouraged the students to join any of the  eight innovative ideas been proposed by the Faculty of the Department. "

 

Research Committee Presentation

A presentation has been delivered by the Research Committee coordinator Dr. Youcef B. He discussed about the main tasks of the committee also the operational plan for Academic Year 2015\2016. He also presented to the EE department members the different funding research programs on the level of the Scientific Research Deanship of Almajmaah University as well as the King Abdul-Aziz city for science and technology.

 

Presentation about ABET criteria and their implementation

As a part of electrical engineering orientation to apply for ABET accreditation, the Academic accreditation steering committee organized a presentation about ABET criteria and accreditation conditions. This presentation deals with the quality in the department.  Dr. Abdel-Rahman Al-Qawasmi explained the importance of faculty teamwork and focusing on the evaluation of learning outcomes using the suitable tools. Also, the Head of electrical engineering department Dr. Abdullah Almuhaisen indicated that EE department has a good experience in quality and applying for ABET accreditation is the normal step at the current time

 

Formation of Innovation Group in Department of EE

The Co-Coordinator of the Under Graduate Research and Assistance Committee, Dr.Praveen R.P. delivered a presentation on the Topic " Formation of Innovation Group in Department of EE" at the Seminar Hall of College of Engineering. The presentation highlighted on the need of forming Innovation Group, Available Support from the University and the proposed action plan to establish the same in the Department
