Units of the University Environment & Occupational Health Department
A. Environmental Pollutants Units’ Tasks :
1. To provide the reference values of environmental pollutants.
2. To monitor constantly the pollutants in the internal and external environment.
3. To carry out the proper analysis needed to identify the pollutants resources.
4. To conduct the necessary preventive programs to avoid the occurrence of pollution incidents, identify its potential sources and proposing the necessary emergency plans when it occurs in coordination with the respected sectors.
5. To carry out periodically an assessment for the quality of water and Sewage treatment plant products at the university cities.
6. To set clear policies and to approve all the necessary measures of monitoring all the activities related to the management of the university environment.
7. To apply the specifications and the occupational health requirements in the workplace to control the levels of environmental pollutants and minimize them.
8. To organize the process of using and storing the chemical, biological and radioactive materials used for educational and research purposes.
9. To organize and follow-up the process of getting rid of chemical, biological and radioactive materials.
10. To express a technical opinion about the biological outputs of the university projects.
11. To propose a modification for the environment criteria and requirements related to the university environment.
B. The Occupational Health Unit’s Tasks:
1. To follow-up and evaluate the provision of a healthy and safe workplace in the facilities of the university.
2. To prepare statistics of occupational diseases and injuries.
3. To participate in the process of buildings construction and planning to set the safety requirements.
4. To follow-up and evaluate the availability of occupational safety means and tools.
5. To examine and study accidents in attempt to identify its causes and set the preventive recommendations and requirements to minimize their occurrence.
6. To enhance the idea of carrying out research in the field of occupational health.
C. Risk Analysis & Management:
1. To link the university with all governmental and non-governmental sectors to cooperate in emergency and disaster fields.
2. To identify and manage the risks that may affect the university.
3. To prepare the risk records of the university.
4. To set the plans, procedures and instructors in dealing with emergency and disaster inside the university.
5. To provide a database for volunteers, identifying their tasks and supervising them.
6. To supervise the encounter with emergency and disaster that may affect the university.
7. To supervise the recovery process and ensure the situation of the university is back to normal should the university affected by a disaster.
8. To seek help from experts, inside and outside the university, in implementing all works related to risk analysis and management.
9. To set periodical reports.
D. Radiation Protection and Environmental Awareness Unit’s tasks:
1. To set the plans of training and awareness for the university society.
2. To promote the concept of emergency and disaster and the way of dealing with them inside the university on constant bases.
3. To qualify and train administrative and field teams to manage emergency and disaster cases.
4. To seek help from experts, inside and outside the university, in implementing all works related to awareness, training and virtual experiments.
5. To set periodical reports.
E. Special Needs Service Unit’s Tasks:
1. To develop the university society’s skills in dealing with special needs people.
2. To prepare the university environment to be ready for special needs people.
3. To coordinate with the university sectors to provide the best services of special needs people.
4. To activate the participation of special needs people in cultural and social activities inside and outside the university.
