In 2019, the United Nations General Assembly designated 7 September as the International Day of Clean Air for blue skies. The Day stresses the importance of clean air and the urgent need for efforts to improve air quality to protect human health. Air purity is of great importance to human health and their daily lives, especially if we consider that air pollution is the greatest environmental threat to human health and one of the main causes of death and diseases that can be avoided at the global level, in addition to the negative impact that air pollution has on women. Children and the elderly, as many as nine out of ten people breathe polluted air, leading to the death of 7 million people, including 600,000 children. UNEP has teamed up with IQAir, a Swiss air quality technology company, to launch a global air pollution calculator. The tool, which deploys artificial intelligence, builds on the world’s largest air quality data platform, launched last year to estimate population exposure any country, each hour. The General Assembly was encouraged by the international community’s increasing interest in air purity, including the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia represented by the Green Middle East Initiative, which is a regional project led by the Kingdom to reduce the effects of climate change on the region, and joint work to achieve the goals of global climate action, through expanding regional cooperation and forming a structure Infrastructure capable of reducing emissions and protecting the environment. Encouraged by the increasing interest of the international community in clean air, the Middle East Green Initiative (MGI) is a regional effort led by Saudi Arabia to mitigate the impact of climate change on the region and to collaborate to meet global climate targets. By increasing regional cooperation and creating the infrastructure needed to reduce emissions and protect the environment. The Saudi Cifal Center also joins what Mr. Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, called for all countries to work together to combat air pollution, and identified some solutions, which are: Investing in renewable energy and rapidly transitioning away from fossil fuels. Move quickly to zero-emission vehicles and alternative modes of transportation. Using greater hygiene in cooking, heating and cooling. Recycle waste instead of burning it.
