International Mother Language Day

On February 21, International Mother Language Day is celebrated globally, which was declared by UNESCO and adopted by the United Nations General Assembly to promote peace and multilingualism throughout the world. This also emphasizes the importance of cultural and linguistic diversity, preserving differences in cultures and languages, and promoting tolerance and respect for others.

The theme of 2024 is “Multilingual Education as One of the Pillars of Intergenerational Education and Learning,” which highlights the role of education in promoting inclusion through multilingualism, preserving all mother languages, and achieving sustainable development goals.
