7TH SCIENTIFIC SYMPOSIUM OF ENGINEERING AND APPLIED SCIENCE PATRONIZED BY VICE-RECTOR

Under the patronage of the Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Mohammed Al-Shaya’a, the Deanship of Scientific Research, represented by the Engineering and Applied Science Research Center, held the seventh scientific symposium at the auditorium of main campus. The aim of the symposium is to review up-to-date research in engineering and applied science.
The Vice-Rector, Prof. Al-Shaya’a commended the efforts to conduct this symposium, hoping that the objectives of this event are achieved. The value of scientific research was highlighted by the Vice-Rector as one of the fundamentals for the development of any university as it is closely linked to worldwide ranking.
Dr. Thamer Al-Harbi, Dean of Scientific Research, said that this symposium is part of ongoing programs in coordination with the research centers at the university to exchange experience and present latest research among faculty members, researchers and students.
Thee symposium included three sessions as follow:
The first session focused on Electrical Engineering researches. Four papers were presented:
The first paper focused on the hypothetical theory of modeling and propagation of internal waves. This paper is considered important in the field of telecommunications. The rest of papers all addressed topics related to solar energy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its importance and methods of use, as well as the economic value added in line with the vision of the Kingdom 2030. All the papers were published in peer-reviewed journals with high impact factor.

In the second session, five papers were presented related to mechanical, industrial, civil and environmental engineering. Mechanical and industrial engineering researches dealt with raising the efficiency and coolant of electronic devices and reducing energy consumption. The second and third papers addressed the power stations and thermal engines that are based on solar energy. The two presenters said there is a high possibility to raise the efficiency of these devices and reduce carbon emissions.

The papers on civil and environmental engineering focused on consolidating the building structures, and offering scientific and practical solutions to the problems of transportation in Mecca, to alleviate the intensity of congestion and waiting time.

In the third and final session, papers addressed applied sciences. Researchers presented results and methods of new calculations that can be applied in a number of fields, such as engineering and computer science,
