The Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Mohammed Al-Aboudi, chaired the second session of the Academic Affairs Committee. The meeting addressed the performance indicators for the new semester. Prof. Al-Aboudi stressed the role of the college vice-deans for academic affairs and development in leading academic programs and departments.
He pointed out the importance of having clear determinants and a study timetable from the first day of the semester that includes organizing academic groups, managing extra hours, and controlling part-time hours. He also said that there is a need to present clear plans for improvement and development that would positively reflect on the quality of the educational process.
The meeting also discussed the importance of graduation projects and research projects in developing students' abilities to think critically and creatively, solve problems, and work in teams. The success of these projects depends primarily on the efforts of students with a limited supervision of faculty.
The committee members put forward development proposals to address the challenges facing the scientific supervision process for these projects, with a focus on improving the support mechanisms provided to students and faculty members.
The meeting also discussed the report of the Higher Education Programs Employment Rates Assessment Initiative which highlighted the need to improve the learning experience by: improving admission criteria, integrating skills required by the labor market into curricula, and forming strategic partnerships with employers to enhance students’ readiness for the labor market.
The session addressed the digital guide for the management of education and learning, which features a set of updated models aimed at unifying efforts and improving educational practices.
