THE IMPORTANCE OF TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION
Delivered by Dr. Sana Khater (in English). Date: Wednesday 1/3/1438 AH, at 9:30 am. Location: Zulfi College of Education annexed building, classroom (34). Target group: English Department students. Objectives: 1. To describe the importance of technology in Education, which included the following topics: - technology is a link to the future. - It makes the learning experience more exciting and stimulating. - It improves the learner’s kills. - It increases cooperation in learning. 2. To discuss the need for the use of technology in classrooms. 3. To discuss the benefits of conducting and correcting exams online. 4. To describe various technological sources. 5. To explain the importance of the Internet in scientific research. Dr. Sana pointed out that technology is both the present and the future, therefore; we have to keep up with it, or else we’ll be left behind. She also explained how technology improves the skills of learners and teachers at the same time, and how it increases cooperation among them. Furthermore, she described how it creates groups and small communities for both students and teachers with the same interests. Technology also makes the learning process more interesting, because it caters to different types of learners’ requirements, including auditory, visual, dynamic ... etc, and encourages teamwork as well. In addition to this, technology encourages distance learning and self-education as well as being as independent learner, and increases our awareness of what’s going on in the world around us. It also saves the teacher’s time, and makes learning more exciting and stimulating, which motivates the learners. Unit of Public Relations and University Media (annexed building).
