Training Session Titled (Stand By Me)

Zulfi College of Education Holds a Training Session Titled (Stand By Me) As part of the (Volunteer to Excel) program provided by the Academic Guidance and Student Rights Unit, Zulfi College of Education held on Sunday 25/6/1437 AH, a training session titled (Stand By Me) in the College theater at 9:00 am. The session was presented by Ms. Reem Al-Mutairi, who addressed the negative effects of social media. She began the session with an introduction about the development in social media (such as Twitter, Facebook, Snapshot, WhatsApp etc...) and the ways people use these means of communication. She explained that while some people use social media in a good way, others exploit it in a wrong way, so she advised the attendees under the title (Stand By Me) to stop posting pictures and videos of no benefit to them, and which are considered sins in Islam and cause damage and penalties. She clarified that such pictures, videos and messages are spread via social media, especially (WhatsApp), discussing several examples that people must stop posting and sending, such as: 1. WhatsApp messages, which contain mockery of religion and religious people. 2. WhatsApp messages, which contain mockery of people or tribes. 3. WhatsApp messages that call for fads (beda'). 4. WhatsApp messages, which contain the phrase (publish and you'll be rewarded). 5. WhatsApp messages, which contain the phrase (if you do not publish, you'll get this and that etc... 6. WhatsApp messages, which contain boasting, bragging and binging the blessings. 7. WhatsApp messages that call for laziness. 8. WhatsApp messages that focus on the negative aspects of things without the positive ones. 9. WhatsApp messages that call for or cause family break-ups or separate children from their families . 10. WhatsApp messages that call for terrorism, or contain clips of terrorist parties and their acts. 11. WhatsApp messages about people's private lives, or contain their private photos. 12. WhatsApp messages that waste time. 13. WhatsApp messages that intimidate people. Ms. Reem talked about the dangers of posting or sending such messages and their content (chats, photos and videos), and their negative effects on the individual and the community. Finally, she cited some examples of such messages.
