Under the patronage of the Student Advising Center at Student Affairs Dean’s Office and in collaboration with the Student Support Unit at the Engineering College, an awareness lecture entitled “Social Media between Importance and Addiction” was conducted on Tuesday at the Engineering College. Dr. Abdelhameed Haj Ameen from the Student Advising Center at the Student Affairs Dean’s Office, presented the lecture which began by a brief introduction about the Student Advising Center at the Student Affairs Dean’s Office and the wide-range of services it provides to all students, particularly the psychological, educational and social fields. The first theme of the lecture focused on highlighting the importance of social medical networks for university students in present-day in their professional career, provided they are used in the proper way. Dr. Ameen warned students, on the second theme of the lecture, of the risk of using social media in a destructive way as that might end up wasting their time and having their behavior being influenced negatively.
