College of Engineering wins first place In Majmaah University Award for Innovation and Entrepreneurship

On Sunday 2/2/1439, the College of Engineering won the first place in the University Award for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in its 3rd version with the associated exhibition, held under the patronage of Eng. Abdul-Aziz bin Mohammed Al-Huqail and in the presence of MU Rector, Dr. Kahlid Al-Muqrin. The primary aim of the Award is to motivate Saudi individuals in society to invent and lead businesses, transforming scientific ideas and research into high value products in support of innovation and entrepreneurship. The Award seeks to encourage and develop creativity on campus and outside. The College of Engineering participated in this competition with the invention of a smart waiting cabin for pilgrims using renewable energy.The invention is a design that simulates air-conditioned cabins, designed mainly for older and disabled pilgrims waiting for buses to transport them to the sacred places in Mecca and Medina.  The invention takes into consideration the health conditions, especially for the elderly, pregnant women, children and people with special needs among the pilgrims, who are suffering from waiting, in extremely hot weather for buses transporting them to the Holy Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque to perform prayers and rituals.The winning invention was designed by students at the College of Engineering:  Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Ohaidab and Mohammed bin Badr Abanami, supervised by the Dean of the College, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdul Mohsin Al-Abdul Karim, Dr. Tarek Mohammed Al-Bagouri, Dr. Iskandar Talili and Dr. Mohammed Osman from the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering.The invention is registered at KACST and was granted a patent this year
