Based on the directive of the Dean, Dr. Abdullah Al-Abdelkareem, a delegation of the College of Engineering paid a visit on Wednesday to King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology. The delegation included 32 students from all departments headed by Dr. Ali Al-Ghamdi, Head of Department of Electrical Engineering, Dr. Tariq Al-Bajori, Dr. Ahmed Al-Naja’awi, Dr. Tariq Nabeel and Mr. Faris Al-Saeed.
The delegation began the visit by a tour to the National Center for Nontechnology where they were introduced to The technique of material analysis using latest scientific equipment available in the world by extracting the percentages of all the chemical components of the materials components, which leads to the detection of the quality of the materials and the proportions of their component, a technique used for the detection of the structural components of buildings.
The delegation was then shown the process of manufacturing electronic chips for all electrical and electronic devices with quality and competitive prices locally and internationally.
The next stop for the delegation was the laser materials components analysis laboratory, where advanced machines produce class segments for the construction and industrial materials using laser that are used for the purpose of conducting advanced scientific research in this field.
The delegation then headed to the National Center for Solar Technology to see the latest technology in the field of manufacturing solar cells in high quality and efficiency. With approximately 30 years of experience in this field, the Center competes with international counterparts by saving up to 40% of the bill of electricity consumption.
The final stop for the delegation was the National Center for Satellite Technology, where the method of satellite manufacturing has been seen using the latest scientific methods. That has resulted in the launch of 18 satellites in space since 2000 by KSA for the purposes of geological, survey and agricultural as well as all fields of research and scientific.
