As part of the series of programs held by the Intellectual Awareness Unit, a lecture entitled “Impact of spreading Rumors on the Nation” was conducted on Tuesday at the conference hall. The lecture was presented by Dr. Khalid Al-Serheed, faculty members at the College of Science and Humanities in Hawtat Sudair. The first theme of the lecture focused on defining rumors both linguistically and idiomatically, the origin of the term and its relation to society and its way of thinking. On the second theme, Dr. Al-Serheed talked about the dangers of rumors and they can adversely be destructive to the nation and individuals. A realistic example was mention to illuminate the extent to which rumors could significantly destroy a nation. The last theme was dedicated for the importance of security for the nation and individuals and how individuals should strive to maintain it as it is driving force behind any potential development and sustainability. The presenter concluded the lecture by quoting verses from Quran and Sunnah on how to deal with rumors by not spreading them to maintain the integrity and unity of the nation.
