The English Department at the Faculty of Education held an introductory meeting with the freshmen of the department on 17/12/1437 in the presence of the Head of the Department, Dr. Murad Al-Shuboli as well as the Academic Counselors of the Department, Mr. Ahmad Yasin and Mr. Feras Kadoura. The meeting began with introducing the students to the following main points: 1. Introduction to the roles and responsibilities of the Academic Counselor. 2. Detailed explanation of the study program, rights and duties of students, the College Policy including attendance, behavior and ethics. 3. Illustration of the elective courses in addition to the selection and deselection along with the problems that might arise from the selection of inappropriate courses that do not conform to the required study plan. 4. Illustration of the Cumulative Average calculation process and the way to meet the requirements of the program. 5. Elaboration on the policy of denying access to exams and on disciplinary actions. 6. Introducing students to the English Department, the faculty members and the means of communication. 7. Discussion of the potential problems that might face students and offering possible solutions as well as stressing the need to consult the Academic Supervisor if needed. 8. Listening to the views and queries of students regarding Cumulative Point Average (GPA) and the requirements of the program. 9. Showing available means of assistance students can use and stressing the hierarchy within the institution along with providing the opportunity for students to submit complaints and suggestions.
