Under the auspices of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Saleh Al-Dahesh and the presence of the Vice Dean for Educational Affairs, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Saadouni, an orientation day was held to introduce second and third-level students in the preparatory year to the academic departments.
Addressing new students in a welcoming speech, the vice-dean, Dr. Al-Saadouni, said that they will be handed a comprehensive file featuring all what they need to know before joining the college including how to choose the right major.
Students should be able to determine their academic and personal strengths and weaknesses, an act that will help students in choosing their major.
Dr. Al-Saadouni concluded his speech by encouraging students to exert further efforts to improve their academic skills which will help them to excel in their future career.
Representatives from the academic departments briefed students about the academic majors offered by the college including potential of employment for each major along with the necessary skills.
The Head of the Academic Advising Unit at the College of Engineering, Dr. Yazid Qasayma, explained to students how to benefit from the academic advising, highlighting the services offered by the unit such as choosing academic path and graduation requirements.
The Head of the Student Activities Unit, Dr. Tariq Nabil, spoke about the extracurricular activities provided by the college to students and their positive impact on improving their academic level.
The Head of the Student Rights Unit, Dr. Ahmed Maatouq, introduced students to students' rights and duties.
The orientation day was wrapped up by a Q&A session.
