A group of students of the College of Engineering at Majmaah University participated in the "Road Safety and Sustainability" conference organized by the Ministry of Transport and Logistics in cooperation with the General Authority for Roads and the International Road Federation (IRF). More than 1000 researchers and interested parties from more than 50 countries around the world attended the conference.
The conference was held at the Intercontinental Hotel, and aimed to enhance understanding of best practices in the field of road safety and sustainability, and to learn about recent developments in this vital field.
During the conference, many workshops and seminars were presented by international and local experts.
The students also participated in the conference with a scientific paper entitled "The extent of the possibility of unifying speeds between light and heavy vehicles on highways in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia". The results of the study are based on a survey with the participation of 200 people, including truck drivers and light vehicle drivers. The differential speed "currently applied" and the unified speed were simulated via the VISSIM program.
The students attended several interactive workshops, focusing on topics such as improving road infrastructure, using technology in safety monitoring, and strategies for developing sustainable road networks. These workshops were a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge with experts in the field of roads, enabling the students to gain a deeper understanding of innovations and future trends in the sector.
