In view of the current health crisis hitting the entire world, a remarkable success was achieved by a research team at the College of Applied Medical Science, Majmaa University as the team received a prototype certificate from the Saudi Authority Intellectual Property (SAIP) to manufacture a low-cost ventilator.
The research team, funded by MU rector, Dr. Khalid al-Muqren, - who directed to design ventilator devices amid Corona pandemic - comprises: Dr. Mazen al-Ghatani, Dr. Mohammed Aboamer, Dr. Musaed al-Zahrani, Dr. Bader al-Rasheedi and Dr. Ameera Rida Jad.
This initiative which reflects the concern of the university to serve the country at best features many research projects for designing and manufacturing, allowing some available worldwide designs to be used while others have been designed from scratch.
All products will undergo special test to ensure their compliance with the national standards before being approved by Saudi Food and Drug Authority. In the second stage of the initiative, private sectors will be allowed to participate in manufacturing.
The head of research team, Dr. al-Ghatani extended his thanks to MU rector for his support to work on such projects.
The MU rector pointed out that the university is committed to play its national role by using all its resources in serving the country, fulfilling some of the major goals of social responsibility.
