A forum entitled “First Forum of Entrepreneurship” was organized by the College of Science and Humanities in Rumah. Many leaders and academics at Majmaah University have participated in the event including the Rector of the University, Dr. Khalid AL-Muqrin, Vice-Rector, Dr. Musallam Al-Dosari, Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies, Dr. Muhammad Al-Shayie, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Ahmad Al-romaih and the Dean of the College of Science and Humanities, Dr. Bandar Al-Yahia.
Having listened to opening verses from the Holy Quran, Dr. Yahia, the College Dean, delivered a speech pointing out that the strategic goal of entrepreneurship reflects the development of community partnerships as well as strengthening the national efforts to match the educational outcomes to the needs and requirements of the labor market.
“That goal was selected based on the three main aspects of the vision of the 2030 of the Kingdom: a vibrant society, an ambitious state and a prosperous economy, which together go hand in hand with the strategic goals of the University aiming to establish effective community partnerships and developing competitive advantages of its alumni.” Dr. Bandar added.
Additionally, Dr. Bandar explained that the College of Science and Humanities is aspiring through this forum to enhance the social responsibility of the University with respect to entrepreneurship under the slogan of the forum (entrepreneurship- Ambition and Responsibility).
Following the speech, a video about the College of Science and Humanities, opened in1431-1432H, its departments, programs, and its achievements was presented.
Later, Dr. Khalid Al-Muqrin, MU Rector, gave a speech in which he thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdul-Aziz for their unlimited support of public education in the Kingdom.
“This forum is an indication that the best investment is in the minds of the sons and daughters of this country.” He added.
“Frankly speaking, I am quite proud of the College for holding of such forum about entrepreneurship, a very significant topic nowadays.” Dr. Muqrin said.
The Rector went on saying, “An initiative of that sort under the leadership of the College Dean and vice-deans confirms the ambition of the college to be a leading academic institution serving the students of the country via its focus on such events that emphasize the importance of real partnership between the colleges and its partners, students and institutions.”
At the end of his speech, the Rector thanked all those who contributed, supported and worked for the success of the forum, either from the University staff or from its partners. Then he awarded the participants in the forum.
Having opened the Investment Club, Dr. Muqrin spoke about its idea and objectives, which aim to support and develop the students' skills in investment and the financial markets through birding the gap between theory and practice by organizing visits to financial firms and benefiting from the experience and knowledge of faculty members in that regard.
Subsequently, the Rector opened the gymnasium and toured the college where he checked the classrooms and laboratories. He met with a number of college students and listened to them before advising them to double their efforts and utilize the tools, facilities and equipment in supporting their academic journey in order to be effective members in their communities and effectively contribute to the development of their country.
Several sessions are held in the Forum. The first one was held prior to the ceremony, under the chairmanship of the Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Mohammed Al-Shayie. A presentation was delivered by Dr. Said Abdu Nafie, who presented a paper entitled “Towards a Strategic Vision for the Role of Universities in Promoting the Culture of Entrepreneurship”. Mr. Abdul Aziz Al-Matroudi, a leading entrepreneur, gave a speech about his successful entrepreneurial experience.
The second session was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Musallam Al-Dosari, MU Vice-Rector, where Dr. Faisal Al-Mutairi talked about the role of the 2030 vision in promoting entrepreneurship. Then, Mr. Sami Al Halo, a leading entrepreneur, spoke about his successful entrepreneurial experience.
In the third session, which was held under the chairmanship of the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Al Rumaih, Mr. Abdul Rahman Moqbel, Director of the Riyadh Institute of Entrepreneurship, spoke about the objectives and services provided by the Institute of National Entrepreneurship.
Mr. Yacoub Al Saleh, Head of Project Management Team at Saudi Aramco Center for Entrepreneurship, and Mr. Majid Al Shabaili, Representative of the Public Relations Department at Saudi Aramco Center for Entrepreneurship, talked about "Supporting Small and Medium Enterprises".
In the fourth session, under the chairmanship of Dr. Shurooq Al-Sherif, Ms. Dima Al-Qahtani, Director of the Entrepreneurship Branch in Riyadh, and Ms. Manal Al-Shakra gave a presentation titled "Guidelines and Scientific Tips Regarding Entrepreneurship".
In the fifth and final session, held under the chairmanship of Dr. Salah Al-Farwani, Dr. Bassam Salehi and Dr. Mohammed Al-Zara'i delivered a presentation entitled, “Effect of Training and Motivation on students' Desire to Lead Projects). Dr. Osama Mohammed Al-Hassan gave another presentation entitled "Financing Small and Medium Enterprises in the Kingdom- Reality and Prospects".
Dr. Hatem Busma gave a presentation entitled "Towards the Establishment of Islamic Entrepreneurship, which was followed by Dr. Hanan Ismail’s presentation titled “Saudi Women Entrepreneurship: Opportunities and Challenges”.
At the end of the session Dr. Abdul Jalil Idris spoke about entrepreneurship and its impact on unemployment in Saudi Arabia.
Several training sessions will be held during the forum. A training session titled “Business model” by Mr. Fahad Al-Malki - Director of Business Development at Al-Mouia Fund in Riyadh - will be delivered on the first day followed by another session by Ms. Nouf Al-Saiedan entitled “Entrepreneurship and Business world”.
On the second day, a training session entitled: "The Idea of Your Project" by Mr. Bandar Al-Dajjani will be presented.
A couple of workshops will also be held. The first one entitled: "How to Start Your Project" will be given by Dr. Bassam Al-Salhi, and the second one titled: "Studying and Evaluating the Feasibility of Investment Projects" will be delivered by Dr. Tariq Bouziane and Dr. Osama al-Hassan.
During the third day, a training session entitled "The Idea of Your Project" will be organized by Ms. Manal Al Shakra from the Institute of Entrepreneurship in Riyadh.
