MU rector Dr. Khalid Al-Mugren launched in his office the e-portal of alumni in the presence of vice-rector for educational affairs, Dr. Ahmed Al-Rumaih and the working team: Dr. Essam Al-Malki, Mr. Hamad Al-Senani, Mr. Sami Al-Jack, Mr. Sulaiman Al-Asmari, Dr. Mohammed Al-Waneen and Mr. Khalid Al-Tariqi. A detailed explanation of the portal was presented by Dr. Al-Rumaih which was a result of joint cooperation between the Vice-Rector’s Office for Graduate Studies and Deanship of Information Technology. In a statement for Dr. Al-Rumaih, the primary aims of the alumni portal is to establish a relationship between the university and alumni, acquire up-to-date data about alumni, evaluate the perspective of businessmen towards the university alumni, provide necessary training for alumni to help them finding suitable jobs and set-up partnership with public and private sectors to support students after graduation. The portal will also help sectors that have vacancies to easily access to the details of alumni. According to Dr. Al-Rumaih, the Portal will contribute in meeting the requirements of academic accreditation. Alumni can get access to his/her information once signed in and express his/her opinion via surveys.The portal will always utilize all available resources to provide the best services to alumni in order to meet the objectives set. MU Rector, Dr. Al-Mugren who received a copy of the guide of the portal expressed his gratitude with the efforts made by the working team to develop this portal for graduates. Continuity, according to the Rector, is essential for more success in any field and MU is a case in point although it was newly established. The action plan began with a preliminary consent to form a working group from the Vice-Rector’s Office for Educational Affairs to formulate an idea of how to design the portal. This was followed by a series of meeting to determine the priorities for implementing the idea. Lengthy meetings were also conducted with the Deanship of IT to see the possibility of turning these ideas into reality.
