The university represented the university environment and occupational health management established a consultative workshop on the Establishment of Laboratories at the University to Obtain a (OHSAS 18001) Certificate, on Sunday, 26/11/1435, in the Deanship of Quality and skills development hall at the university Campus, the workshop was sponsored by HE the Vice Rector Dr. Musallam bin Mohammed Al-Dosari, and attended by the Vice Deans for Academic Affairs and Administrative Directors.
His Excellency the Vice Rector has inaugurated the workshop with a speech in which he explained that the issues that the occupational safety and health at the university became an integral part of the essential tasks of the university represented in education, scientific research and community service, due to that, the university is eager to apply the requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health in all its facilities and operations, especially with respect to laboratories and the university determination to proceed laboratories occupational health and safety planning and development processes in an institutional framework directed and driven by rules and regulations away from judgments that may infect or be wrong. The university pursued to apply the procedures for laboratories to get the (OHSAS 18001)certificate, this supports the university goal to obtain the institutional accreditation, carried out by the developmental projects team and the Deanship of quality and Skills Development at the university.
Later on, the Director of occupational safety and health at the university Abdulellah bin Abdullah Al-Mutairi made a presentation in which he explained the benefits of obtaining the certificate of occupational safety and health management systems (OHSAS 18001) and the plan of the Department in this regard. Also, Tove Sud German company representative gave a presentation on the proposed plan for the completion of this project. After that, discussion was started and a number of suggestions were made in addition to a recommendation to rehabilitate a number of administrative staff to work at university labs technical support and the need to provide an engineering requirements guide for the construction of laboratories buildings.
At the end of the workshop, HE the Vice Rector expressed his appreciations for the attendees for the interaction and eagerness to enrich the topics of the workshop which recommendations will contribute to the development of the work plan.
