14th Seminar held by Department of Computer Science and Information

In the presence of the Head of Department of Computer Science and Information, Dr. Fayez Al-Fayez and faculty members, the 14th seminar for the academic year 1440/1441 AH was held at the Department.
Presented by Dr. Motasem Al-Khair, the seminar was entitled “QoS of VOIP over Broadband Network”.
Dr. Al-Khair talked about the Evaluation of the quality of service for the VoIP protocol for various broadband networks, as the huge increase in the use of these services have led to a massive growth in these networks which include local wired and wireless networks
These networks include Microwave (WiMAX) and NetUniversal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS).
The presenter also demonstrated the results of a comparison of the quality of service for each type of network using different quality of service evaluation criteria such as end-to-end delay, Mean Option Score (MOS), throughput, jitter.
Such results for each type of network will give network operators an opportunity to choose the appropriate codec to improve VoIP services to satisfy their clients.
A Q & A session was held at the end of the seminar which was very informative.
