By the end of this course students will be able to:

• Develop an understanding of the knowledge about pathology.

• Define inflammation and know its purpose and types , Describe how the inflammatory exudate (fluid and cells) is formed, its composition and its function.

• Describe the systemic manifestations and local signs of acute inflammation and the course of acute and chronic inflammation and Give examples of diseases associated with acute and chronic response.

• List causes and mechanisms of cell injury and Define the terms hypertrophy, hyperplasia, atrophy, and metaplasia, with example of each.

• Define hydropic swelling ,fatty changes, causes leading to this injury and Give examples of organs commonly affected with fatty changes.

• Define necrosis and Mention classification of necrosis , and Define the term apoptosis.

• Mention the difference between the term hyperaemia and congestion Define the term thrombus and list types, and list the factors that predispose to thrombus formation and Enumerate fate of a thrombus formation, Define the term embolus and list types of embolism , and infarction causes of infarction.
