The Advisory Council of the Computer Science and Information Department Holds its first Meeting.

The Advisory Council of the Department of Computer Science and Information at the College of Science in Zulfi held its first meeting in the academic year 1435-1436 AH. A number of prominent faculty members from Saudi Universities and public figures from the Public and Private Sectors attended the meeting. Their Excellences include: 1- Dr. Issa Ahmed Ghoneim, professor at the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences at King Saud University 2- Dr. Saleh Al-Silmi, dean of the College of Computer and Information Sciences at Qassim University 3- Dr. Ali Abdul Aziz Khalifa, head of Information Technology Department at Qassim University 4- Engineer Osama Ahmed Jan, director of the Dream Program at “Alam” Company 5- Majed Hazzani, director of the Information Technology Department at the National Center for Assessment 6- Mr. Abdullah Al Shamsan, director of the Information Technology Department at the National Program for the Qualification of Talented People 7- Mr. Abdulaziz Saud Khonaini, computer-science employee at the Zulfi Department of Education .The advisory council members were received by the College dean Dr. Mohammed Saleh Al-Aboudi, , Dr. Mufawas Zubian Al-Harbi, vice dean for Development and Quality, Dr. Thamer Shilih Al-Harbi ,dean of scientific research at Majmaah university, and Dr. Yusri Ahmed Azzam head of the Department of Computer Science along with many faculty members at the Department of Computer and Information Sciences in Zulfi.The Head of the Department chaired the meeting together with the college’s vice dean for development and quality who welcomed the members and briefed them on the agenda of the meeting which centered on discussing the following issues: 1. The vision, mission and objectives of the department. 2. The learning output and the assessment methods 3. The plan to develop the department. 4. The preparatory year for students of the department and its importance. 5. The language of teaching at the college 6. Informing the members of the Council of the new study plan of the department. 7. The Department study plan and its connection with the requirements of the labor market 8. Activation of the role of Department output in the community. 9. Closer partnership between the department and the public and private sectors. 10. Providing opportunities for college students to gain field experience and mechanisms of summer training application. 11. Urging public and private sectors to attract college graduates The meeting resulted in several recommendations that can potentially enhance the department orientation towards meeting the needs of the labor market with the commitment to the academic accreditation benchmarks. Members of the council praised the department achievements in the current academic year. Similarly, the chairman of the council thanked the members for their efforts in supporting the development attempts of the college’s department.
